Club News
1. On the playing front the First XV are top of the Hampshire One league, four points ahead of rivals Fordingbridge, who they play on 31st March at home.
The Second XV are top of the Hampshire Merit Table Two, one point ahead of Tottonians, who they play at home this coming Saturday, KO 2:30pm. This is a title deciding game, so your touchline support would be appreciated. The Scotland v England game will be on in the Clubhouse afterwards of course.
The Third XV are forth in the Hampshire Merit Table Three, which is a great performance from a team entering the leagues for the first time.
2. The Club is holding a ‘half term’ Rugby Camp on 15th – 17th February 2012 for age groups U7 – U16. The Course will be run by an RFU level 2 qualified coach, and runs from 9am to 4pm each day, at a cost of £12 per day. If you know of any children who would be interested in attending please contact Jon Ingarfield for more details [ j_ingarfield@hotmail.com ].
3. First XV squad member Chris Cove is running the London Marathon on 22nd April 2012 raising money for the British Lung Foundation. His fund raising page is www.virginmoneygiving.com/chriscove
4. Lastly, I have forgotten to mention that ex-long time player and Club Member, Bill Davies, [ 80 ish ] broke two British records at the British Masters Track & Field Championships last year. The 400 metres in a time of 88.04 secs; and the 1500 metres in a time of
6 mins 54.67 secs. Some of the First XV had better watch their backs as Bill sprints past them down the touchline !!

As of today our Three senior teams are doing well in their respective league tables:
First XV....Hampshire One [ 12 Clubs ].. Second to Fordingbridge RFC , both on maximum 40 points after 8 games, but ERFC behind on pts diff.
Second XV ...Hants Merit Table Two [ 11 Clubs ]...Top spot ahead of Tottonians RFC.
Third XV ...Hants Merit Table Three [ 12 Clubs ] ..Second behind Fareham Heathens.
All three sides are playing good entertaining rugby, so if you can’t support the First XV game for any reason one week, give the other two a watch.

1. The First XV are away to Petersfield in the Hants League on Saturday, 24 Sept. There are a few spare seats on the coach for supporters on a first come basis. Coach will leave the Club @ 12 noon, and return about 7:30pm. Email Russ Smith now to book a seat..
rjsmith4uk@yahoo.co.uk
2. Last call for our 80th Anniversary Lunch on Saturday 1st October 2011 @ 12:15 pm. A three course lunch for £10 available to all members, their friends and guests, plus past and present players. Home Hants League game against Millbrook RFC @ 3 pm. Contact Malcolm Pain now to book your seat/s...Tel: 023 80557972 Email: malcolm.pain@btinternet.com
3. Our Third rugby pitch is now up and running at last, way down at the bottom of the field. It’s slightly smaller than our other two at 90 x 60 metres, but will be ideal for Third XV, Colts and Upper Junior games. The surface is very good and it should play well. The poor state of the two main pitches has improved slightly due to the recent rain, but the First XV pitch is not quite ready yet I don’t think.
4. Apologies for the lateness of the 2011/12 Handbook, but we have had to make some very last minute changes. I will let you know when copies are available.
5. There was a good sized crowd at the last Hants League home game against Romsey, which the lads won 46-8, as indicated on our new score board pitch side. Please keep up the support as it is appreciated by the lads, and all fixtures are on the Club website..

Due to various invited guests and sponsors being unavailable on the 17th September, our 80th Anniversary Lunch has been put back to Saturday 1st October 2011. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you, and more details and a request form will be available nearer the date.

1. Inter-Club trial game on Saturday afternoon, 6 August, at the Club. Those players who have trained throughout the summer will know the details, but other players and supporters are welcome to attend. Trial games against Bognor RFC and Winchester RFC have also been arranged for the end of August.
2. Make a note in your diary for Saturday 17 September 2011 @ 12:15pm in the Clubhouse. All past and present players, members and supporters are invited to an 80th Anniversary Lunch to get this season going. ERFC as we know it today was founded by 19 young lads in the summer of 1931, and played their first season that year. Games were played at Fleming Park, and the Home Tavern [ now the Waggoner's Wheel, or something daft] used as the Clubhouse. Eastleigh Town actually had a rugby team as far back as 1892, but it dissolved during and after the First World War.
3. Finally, the Club is sad to announce the death of Steve ‘Gilly’ Gilmour. Gilly was an ex-First XV player of some note and stature, but had been suffering from a long illness for some time. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.

Although the First XV lost to New Milton last Saturday, 26-11, our nearest rivals for the League runner-up spot, Millbrook RFC, also lost to US Portsmouth, but picked up a bonus point. That means we need another point to be safe and clear in the runner-up spot after Andover RFC. We have two matches left in which to get that point ....Saturday 26 March...home to Southampton RFC...9 April..away to Fareham Heathens.
The play-off for promotion to London Three will be against the runners-up in Surrey One, which looks like being either Old Blues RFC or Old Freemans RFC. Home advantage will go to the runner –up with the most League points at the end of the season.
As well as losing to a good looking New Milton squad, we also lost Paul Fudio with a badly broken ankle. He is as comfortable as possible, but may need surgery in the future. I will keep you posted on his progress. Our current player injury list is so long that BRT and I may have to get our boots out of the loft !!
Paul Franklin,
Membership Secretary
1. The defeat by Andover last week, following on from the defeat at Romsey the previous week, has really killed off our chances of topping Hampshire One and automatic promotion to London Three. Realistically runners-up spot, and a play-off with a Surrey One Club, is now our best hope of promotion. Second spot seems to be a two horse race between us and Millbrook RFC, and guess who we play at home this coming Saturday. No need to tell you that your support on the touchline, KO 3pm, would be appreciated yet again.
2. I get several emails each month about the progress of certain players who have suffered serious injury during the season. Team mates like to know the latest situation, and if they can offer any support or help in anyway. So, I intend to include such information in my Club News emails from time to time. Below is the only information I have at the moment, but I would like to hear from any other players who have been out injured for a long time. Will such players, if they want to, email me with their injury and progress so I can keep other Club members up to date. If such players need a helping hand or Club support, please let me know. [ in confidence if needs be ] Many thanks:
Matt Bradbury....nasty head knock and knee damage recently...head/neck improving, but knee ligaments will keep him out for the rest of the season.
Chris Goldsworthy ....kicked in the face resulting in possible broken cheekbone, may need an operation...out for rest of the season.
Josh Chudley ....dislocated knee ...out for rest of the season.
Vincent ‘Frenchie’ Foure ....sore thumb and broken finger nail...back soon poor thing.
Please don’t let the above put you off playing the best team game in the world. I’ve been married to the same old dear for 40 years and had a lot worse !!!

Membership Secretary
The First XV put the defeat at Romsey last weekend behind them to concentrate on the top of the table home clash with Andover on Sat 26 Feb, KO 2:30pm.
This game may well decide the final League positions in our push for promotion to London Four. Therefore your touchline support is needed to give the lads a boost and create some noise.
The England v France game isn’t till 5pm, so you have no excuse not to cheer on the lads beforehand.
Make this your one essential trip to the Club this season, as Andover will bring coach loads down with them.

Paul Franklin,
Membership Secretary
1. The First XV sit proudly at the top of Hampshire Division One, and have a home league game this Saturday against Farnborough, so your touchline support would be welcome. KO 2pm.
2. On Friday 4 Feb the Junior Section of the Club will play hosts to a free buffet evening to watch the Wales v England Six Nations game. Evening starts at 7pm, with kick off at 7:45pm. All Club members and their guests are welcome...break out those National colours and hats !
3. On Saturday 12 Feb @ 12:30pm, The Club will be holding a No Frills Budget England v Italy Luncheon at the great value price of just £7:50 for two courses. Seat reservations are essential, and reservation forms will be available on the Clubhouse window sill from Saturday 15 Jan for those injured players interested. Vice Presidents will receive a form through the post shortly. Deadline date is 6 Feb.
4. Lastly, The Hurricanes Special Needs Tag Rugby Club, who are affiliated to ERFC, provided a Guard of Honour at Twickenham recently for the England v New Zealand game. Photos of the event can be seen on the Club website...www.eastleighrugby.com ...click Junior/mini section..click gallery...click hurricanes guard of honour. Well done to all concerned.

Following a pitch inspection this afternoon, both home pitches are just about playable, even if the markings are a bit faint.
Home games are First XV v Andover [ Hampshire League ] Social XV v Nomads...both KO @ 2pm.
Your home support would be most welcome for the top of the table clash.
However, there will be another pitch inspection tomorrow morning for frost or snow, so anyone planning to travel a long distance would be advised to contact me around noon to check games are still on.

Sorry for not contacting you lately, but my PC went down, and I have had to buy a new one !!
So just sorting out my email addresses which I lost in transfer.....

1. Please note that the First XV home friendly game against Portsmouth on Saturday 23 October has been cancelled.
The Second XV are on Merit Table duty away to Fareham Heathens, ko @ 3pm. They could do with as much touchline support as possible please.
There is no Third XV game this weekend.
Therefore, there are no games at the Club this coming Saturday.
2. Members will be pleased to know that Second XV player Dean Simper didn't break his leg at Winchester last Saturday, but has bad ligament damage, so will have to hobble along the wing at Fareham.
3. Petersfield RFC have called off our First XV friendly with them due for 6 November due to Cup committments. No doubt a replacement fixture will be arranged.
4. Will all those players who have yet to pay their Annual Playing Membership Fee please do so, to me or their Team Captain, before the end of October. Failure to do so may result in non- selection for future games. Thank you.

1. The Corp Group would like to thank all the players who turned up yesterday for the trial games against Winchester and the Army side from Salisbury. One close game, and one not so close. It doesn't matter as long as you committ yourselves to the Club, and of course enjoy the match day experience.
2. The 2010/11 new design ERFC Handbook is now available. Thanks to Paul Tiller and his team for a fresh approach to this document. Copies will be available on the next two weekends for players, all VP's will get theirs through the post shortly.
3. I would like to draw all players attention to page 5 of the Handbook, which states..'Annual playing members who have not paid their fees in full by 1st October 2010 will not be considered for selection to play in any team in preference to paid-up members.'
Players should be aware that they are not covered by the RFU Insurance taken out by the Club, in case of serious injury, unless they have completed the 2010/11 Players Membership Form and paid their fee, or completed the standing order proforma. It is for your own health, safety and peace of mind that the Club includes this statement in the Handbook.
4. Saturday 11 Sept sees the start of our Hampshire Division One season, home to Fareham Heathans, KO 3pm. Your touchline support is very much needed to cheer on the lads to victory, we hope. So see you all next Saturday.

1. ERFC entered three sides in the International Bouremouth Sevens Tournement at the end of May. Like last year our top side got to the final of the Sunday Men's Cup, just losing by one score against 'Southern Elite' a side made up of ex-internationals and County players. A good weekend was had by all, despite the weather.
2. League fixtures for next season have just been published, Hampshire Division One being made up of the following:
Andover, Eastleigh, Fareham Heathens, Farnborough, Isle of Wight, Millbrook, New Milton,
Romsey, Southampton, US Portsmouth, Ventnor.
First games are : Sept 11 home to Fareham Heathens; Sept 18 away to Andover; Sept 25 home to Isle of Wight
The full list will appear on the club website in due course.

Club & First XV captain.........Russell Smith
First XV Vice captain............Paul Fudio
Second XV captain...............Adam Blyth
Third XV captain..................John Harris
The Corp Group wish them well in thier new roles.
The Corp Group would also like to thank last season's Club captain, Paul Taylor; First XV vice captain, Greg King; and coach Andy Boyes for all their hard work in making last season one of the best seen at ERFC for a long time. Some of the First XV performances were of a very high standard, and certainly raised the Club's profile within the County. It is going to be a hard act to follow, but I think the lads are up for it.
Thanks also to Wayne Hayward, Dave Lowe and Glenn Lawrence who kept the Second XV ticking over nicely. A final mid-table Merit Table Two position was a great achievement.
I am pleased to announce that several new faces have agreed to join, or assist, the Corp Group following the AGM. They are: John Harris, Dan Achillies, Dave Craddock, Mike Riggs, Paul Tiller and Hannah Lynch as Minute Sec. Their exact roles and titles will be confirmed at the next Corp Group meeting on 10 May, and then posted on the Club's website.

2. Another date for your diary is Sunday 25 April when the Mini & Junior Section will be holding an all day celebration of winning the 'Social Inclusion' title for 2010 given by the RFU President's XV Recognition Awards. The Junior Section have worked extremely hard over a few seasons now to ensure that youth rugby is available to all parts of the Eastleigh community. This includes the Hurricanes Special Needs Rugby Team, which goes from strength to strength, the Try Again Youth Offenders Scheme Rugby Team, plus providing rugby for youth with numerous disabilities.

Club members may have heard that Wayne Hayward [Hon Sec], will be moving to Wales during the summer. Wayne has served the Club in a number of capacities, most recently as Hon Secretary. As the Club has 'Limited' status, it is legally obliged to have such a post. Wayne's imminent departure, coupled with the sad loss of John Sneezum, will create a significant void in the Club's Senior Section administration. In fact, several Committee posts were not filled at the start of this season, therefore the Corporate Group are urgently appealing to all members, playing and VP, to step forward and offer themselves for nomination at the AGM for the following posts for the 2010/2011 season:
Hon Secretary ....Club post box and receiver/distributor of RFU literature.
Asst Hon Secretary ...Assist Hon Sec and the taking of minutes at Committee meetings.
Hon Fixture Secretary ...Arranging Club fixtures and referee liason.
Vice Chair Fixtures & Standards ...Playing and coaching standards & equipment needed.
In order to reduce the work load, it may be possible for two members to share the post of Hon Fixture Secretary. Likewise, a small group may wish to tackle the Fixtures & Standards post which overseas the standard at which the Club plays; its coaching and training requirement; the equipment needed to match the playing standard and coaching requirements.
The Corporate Group will try to be as flexible as possible in order to get the above posts filled one way or another, and will of course be on hand to advise and assist those coming forward to take up the posts.
It must be stressed that without member support in filling the above posts, the future of your Club could be in doubt. It is not possible for the existing Committee members to continue for another season carrying all the vacant posts on a few broad, but bending shoulders. Therefore please give your consideration to the Corporate Group's request for volunteers to step forward. Further details about the duties of the above posts can be obtained from any Corporate Group member [ see Club website for names/details of Corp Group members ].
Without you, the members, we have no Rugby Club.

Paul Franklin,
Membership Secretary
1. Diana Sneezum has informed the Club that just over £2000 was raised in donations to the Wooden Spoon charity following the death of John. The Wooden Spoon is the charity of British & Irish Rugby for mentally and physically disabled children, in support of capital projects. Wooden Spoon also have their own rugby XV which plays fund raising games up and down the country. To find out more about this worthwhile charity log onto www.woodenspoon.com
2. Tim Liston leads the way on both the try and points front, having just reached double figures in both. See the details on the Senior page of our Club website:
Club overall tries...11 Tim Liston; 8 Wayne Hayward; 7 Lloyd Bennett; 5 Paul Fudio.
Club overall points... 133 Tim Liston; 63 Russell Smith; 40 Wayne Hayward.
3. The last quarter of the Hampshire Division One season is now upon us, and the First XV retain 3rd position as of today's date despite pressure from Romsey and Southampton. Next league game is 6 March away to Fareham Heathens, who will make a fight of it to avoid relegation. Your support at Fareham may make all the difference. They play opposite Fareham Town Football Club at Cams Alders fields, Highfield Ave. [ where I used to play as a child before the sports pitches...just cows in my day ].

Only family flowers please, with any donations to Animal Cancer Trust c/o B. Matthews Funeral Directors, 146 Portsmouth Road, Woolston, Southampton, SO19 9AP.
The funeral will be followed by a private family wake.
There will be a book of condolence available at ERFC for messages.

It is with great sadness that the Club announces the sudden death of Andy Kidd.
Andy played a leading role in the Junior Section for many years, then joined the Hampshire Referees Society as an assessor. He was a familiar face on the touch line and will be sorely missed.
Our thoughts are with his wife and family. Funeral details will follow when known.

Membership Secretary
1. Yesterday's results...
Alton 13 Eastleigh 6 [ see Club website for report and photos ]
Alton 2 XV 35 Eastleigh 2 XV 8
2. Some of you may have noticed that the Hampshire RFU website has not been updated with our League results/table since 5 Dec. A more up to date service is provided by www.rfu.com
click Results click London & SE Division click Hampshire One.
3. The recent bad weather has played havoc with the pitches at Bishopstoke, and repairs to the Second XV pitch continue. One bit of good news is that the Council are at last clearing the storm drain that runs parallel to Bishopstoke Road. This has been blocked for some time, despite our complaints, and its clearance should help drain the ground a bit better.
4. There was a huge turnout for the funeral of John Sneezum last Thursday, and I know Diana was overwhelmed with the support from both friends and Club members. On behalf of the Committee I would like to thank those Club members who travelled long distances to show their respects, and/or sent cards/emails to Diana.

1. Despite the recent thaw, pitch inspections yesterday at Bishopstoke, US Portsmouth & Basingstoke unfortunately found all pitches not fit for play this coming weekend, therefore all games have been postponed. The planned reschedule is as follows:

06 Feb Millbrook (home)
07 Feb Portsmouth University (home)

06 Feb Basingstoke 3 (away)
Please check the Club web site for the latest changes and updates if the weather is bad.
2. Those of you who have RFU Draw Tickets sent out by John Sneezum, please return the stubbs, cheques made out to Eastleigh RFC, and unused tickets, to Malcolm Pain, 2 Nursey Road, Bitterne Park, Southampton, SO18 1NS by 31 January PLEASE.
3. The Club Annual Dinner & Presentation Night has been organised for Friday 23 April at the Clubhouse. The evening commences at 7:30pm and tickets are £10 each and are available from behind the Club bar, or from Wayne Hayward, 29 C, Upmill Close, West End, Southampton, SO30 3HT. Requests to Wayne should contain numbers of tickets required, your home address and phone number, cheque made out to Eastleigh RFC.

Dr John Sneezum
I have just been informed this morning by Diana that, due to the continuing weather and travel problems, John's funeral has been put back to THURSDAY 21 JANUARY @ 1pm. All other arrangements are as before, and as shown on the Club website News page.
Paul Franklin,
Membership Secretary
1. Please note the text below which has been added to the Club website...News page.
2. All games at home on Saturday 9 January have been postponed due to frozen pitches.
3. Hopefully the home League game on Saturday 16 January against US Portsmouth will be played, but check website beforehand.
...John Sneezum's funeral will be held on Tuesday 12 January in St Leonards Church, Church Lane, Bursledon, at 11:30 am, then afterwards at Eastleigh RFC Clubhouse. All Club members are welcome to attend either venue. The Church is located in Old Bursledon, turn right off the A27 towards Swanwick just before the railway bridge, sign posted to the railway station, turn right into Church Lane before the railway station....

1. On behalf of the Club Committee I wish all members a Happy and winning New Year.
2. The continuing bad weather has caused a fixture problem for the coming few weeks. The First XV last played a game on 12 December against Romsey, and since then the planned home League game against Millbrook has been postponed twice. Last Saturday the players actually got onto the pitch, but Millbrook considered the ground unplayable. When this fixture will be played is anyones guess at the moment.
3. The Hampshire Cup home game against Portsmouth University, due to be played last Sunday, has also to be slotted in somewhere.
4. Please keep an eye on the Club website for further information, and hopefully we can play one game or another this coming weekend weather permitting of course.
5. I'm not sure about the Wednesday evening training situation at the moment, so can players please check with Andy Boyes or Paul Taylor if in any doubt.
6. All being well the next home League game is planned for Saturday 16 January against United Services Portsmouth. The only recent League game to beat the weather was last Saturday when Petersfield got the better of Alton by 18 - 12, so the top of the Hampshire One League Table looks like this as of today:
| Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | Diff | Pts | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alton | 11 | 10 | 0 | 1 | 223 | 20 |
| Petersfield | 11 | 9 | 0 | 2 | 264 | 18 |
| Eastleigh | 10 | 7 | 0 | 3 | 76 | 14 |
| Romsey | 10 | 6 | 0 | 4 | 42 | 12 |
| Southampton | 10 | 6 | 0 | 4 | 34 | 12 |
| Millbrook | 10 | 6 | 0 | 4 | 25 | 12 |
7. Twickenham Six Nations tickets should be arriving through your letter boxes soon, only if you have paid for them of course !

Dr John Sneezum
It is with great sadness that the Club announces the death of John Sneezum this morning. He passed away peacefully in Southampton General Hospital following continued poor health.
John was a rugby man through and through, although having last played for Eastleigh over 30 years ago, he continued to work hard at various administrative posts on the Club Committee, and was still carrying out his Fixture Secretary duties from his hospital bed last week.
Also well known in the County, he was a member of the County Referees Society, and a past Hampshire RFU President, as well as President of the Hampshire Schools RFU, and will be missed by all rugby folk far and wide.
Our thoughts are with his wife Diana and family.
30 December 2009
John's funeral will be held on Tuesday 12 January in St Leonards Church, Church Lane, Bursledon, at 11:30 am, then afterwards at Eastleigh RFC Clubhouse. All Club members are welcome to attend either venue. The Church is located in Old Bursledon, turn right off the A27 towards Swanwick just before the railway bridge, sign posted to the railway station, turn right into Church Lane before the railway station.

1. Weather permitting, the last League game of 2009 is on Saturday, 19th, kick off at 2pm home to Millbrook RFC. The bar will remain open for several hours after the game for members to socialise, partake of light refreshments, and generally celebrate Christmas and the forthcoming New Year. All members and their guests are most welcome to attend.
2. The first home game of 2010 is planned to be a Hampshire Plate game against Portsmouth University on Jan 2 or 3, depending on any weather problems over the Christmas period. I will confirm details a few days beforehand, and please check the Club website.
3. On behalf of the Corporate Group of the Club I wish all members a Merry Christmas and a Happy 'winning' New Year. At this time of year our thoughts are with our Armed Forces Club members currently engaged in war zones...please return safely.

1. Due to the wet weather both home pitches are unplayable tomorrow, 5 Dec, therefore both First and Second teams will travel down to New Milton, both kick off at 2pm. Your touchline support would be appreciated.
2. Still on pitches, the Second XV pitch is having further problems...a foot wide trench has appeared due to standing water, and this needs urgent repair over the next two weeks. Also, continued floodlit training during this wet period has ruined the in-goal area of the pitch, and it is doubtful if the pitch can be marked out properly, and used, for some time. The Committee will discuss this matter next Tuesday.
3. Hopefully the weather will allow the League game at home, against Romsey, to proceed on 12 Dec. I will keep you all informed. With Southampton beating leaders Petersfield last Saturday, the top of Hampshire One is now more open, with us , Alton and Petersfield fighting for the two top spots.
4. Don't forget to visit our new web site for up-to-the-minute results and match reports, not forgetting the vast players photo gallery for each game. Photos can be downloaded I understand, as many of our past opponents have visited the site for this purpose. Thanks to official Club photographer, Ian Smith, for his efforts each week.

Eastleigh Memorial Match for Mike Whitecross.
On Saturday Eastleigh held a memorial match for Mike who was club Treasurer until he died of cancer earlier in the year. Dunvant a club from his native Wales brought a party of veterans who put on a great show of positive attractive rugby. Many of them had played senior rugby in Wales and they were a joy to watch winning by 48 – 19 with 36 points in the first half. Eastleigh put on one or two younger men in the second half and these players would have learnt from the experience. Both sides had a meal after the game and watched the New Zealand game on the big screen, although there was banter as the visitors wanted to see Wales playing Argentina. A great day with a good sum collected for cancer.

2. Just a reminder to players that training is ongoing every Wednesday night @ 7pm, with a bit of fitness training on a Monday I believe.
3. The Club has had a joint meeting with Eastleigh Council about the state of the two pitches. Keith Kent the Head Groundsman at Twickenham was also present, and a series of measures will be taken from June onwards to make sure both pitches are safer and better to play on next season. I won't go into all the technical details, but the measures involve new seeding, weeding, airing the soil and other under ground stuff designed to shake up the earth to allow better root growth. Let's hope we get some straight poles as well.
4. It is hoped to get a Colts [ Under 18,19 ] squad out next season. They won't enter the Hampshire Colts League next season, but play friendlies to see how they go. So, if you know of any young lads who may be interested please let me know and I can pass on the details to them.

1. It is with great sadness that the Club announces the death last night of Mike Whitecross. Mike was an Eastleigh man through and through, having been involved with the Mini & Junior Section, The Colts squad, and lately as Senior Club Treasurer. Indeed, Mike continued to carry out his Treasurer duties during his brave fight against cancer, and only recently handed over the books to Llyod Attree. Our thoughts are with his wife Karen, children, family and friends. Details of the funeral arrangements will be announced when known.
2. Saturday 18 April is our last Hampshire One League game of the season. A defeat and we will almost certainly go back to Hampshire Two League. A win, or even a draw, may be enough to save us depending on other results. Needless to say this game is important for the Club, and your touchline support is required. Let's make the day a celebration of Mike's life, for I know he would have been on the touchline as usual cheering on the lads. Club colours should be worn if at all possible..scarf..bobble hat..tie....Red, Amber & Black - No going back.
3. What about the Second XV then...finishing top of Hampshire Merit Table Three just ahead of season rivals Ryde RFC. A great achievement by a squad of dedicated and talented players of all ages, sizes and shapes...and that's just Captain Dave Lowe.
4. Finally, a word of congratulations to the Mini & Junior Section on a brillant season. Not only were the Section awarded the RFU Seal of Approval, they had a succesful season in most age groups. Also, they welcomed the Hurricanes Special Needs Rugby Club to Bishopstoke, and saw playing members increase. Check out the Junior Section website for all the details.

1. Another defeat in the last minute of the game, 10-6 away to Southampton, means the First XV are on the brink of going back to Hampshire League Two. With only one game to go, home to Farnborough on 18 April, even a win may not be enough to keep us up. With only two points between the bottom four Clubs, we need other results to go our way.
East Dorset -60 10 pts
New Milton -90 10
Eastleigh -33 9
Southampton -167 8
We could end up bottom of the League if we loose to Farnborough, or fourth from bottom and safe, if we win and both East Dorset & New Milton loose.
2. Better news from the Second XV who won their last Merit Table Three game 21-17 away to Chineham. They may be top of the Table if Ryde don't play any of their postponed fixtures before the season ends. Whatever happens the Second XV have had a great season under Captain Dave Lowe, and the Merit Table title would be a well deserved reward for their efforts.
3. Tickets still available for the end of season dinner on Friday 1 May. See Glenn or download the request form from the website.

Paul Franklin,

1. The First XV home game against Fawley this Saturday has been cancelled. The Second XV are still going over to Ryde RFC , as far as I know, for a Merit Table game against the Table leaders.
2. However, the Clubhouse will be open from 12:30pm on Saturday for the three 6 Nations games, starting with Italy v France @ 13:15; England v Scotland @ 15:30; Wales v Ireland @ 17:30. So don't sit at home on your own all afternoon.
3. Don't forget the Annual Dinner & Presentation Night on 1st May, tickets available from Glenn Lawrence, or download request form from the website.
4. If you haven't seen the February/March Newsletter, copies are still available on the Clubhouse window sill.

1. Your support is again needed this coming Saturday at Home against top of the League Fordingbridge, KO 3pm. With only three games to go, and only three points between the bottom four Clubs, Eastleigh, East Dorset, New Milton & Southampton, this is a must win game.
The Second XV are also at Home to Overton 2 in their bid to top the Hants Merit Table Three.
2. Don't forget the Members Luncheon on Saturday 21 March at 12:45pm for only £6. The last luncheon of the season so please try to attend. A request form is attached, or just email me.
3. Tickets are now available for the Annual Dinner & Presentation Night on 1st May at the Macdonald Botley Park Hotel, Botley @ £30 a head. A request form is attached.
